Welcome Home to Germantown!

In the 1820’s Germantown was known as Pea Ridge, named for the strip of land that divided the area from north to south and eventually became the railroad line.

With a current population of 40,203, its residents are proud of their city where thoughtful planning has created an excellent environment in which to live, work and play.

Germantown offers award-winning schools, acres of parkland, a comprehensive fitness and recreation complex, extensive sports programs, community chamber orchestra and TV station.

Germantown Charity Horse Show
Organized in 1948, this five-day event in early June is one of the largest multi-breed horse shows in the United States, attracting 700 to 1,000 horses. Classes range from kids and horses in costumes to Tennessee walking horses to the grand prix finale
